Kazarian Foundation Allocates US$2 Million in Honor
of Whitehead --

John
C. Whitehead, former CEO of the private partnership bank
Goldman, Sachs & Co., and former United States Deputy
Secretary of State, was honored at the Asia Society Annual
Dinner on January 11, 2012. Distinguished guests from the
business, arts, policy and diplomatic communities gathered
at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City to celebrate his
accomplishments.

Chairs were Paul B. Kazarian, Chairman and CEO of Japonica
Partners; J. Michael Evans, Vice Chairman of Goldman, Sachs
& Co.; and Maurice Greenberg, Chairman and CEO of Starr
Insurance Holdings, Inc.
Dinner
Chair Paul B. Kazarian, Chairman and CEO of Japonica Partners,
commented:
“As
we have with our other most trusted friends and advisors,
we will allocate two million dollars to a global benchmark
charitable initiative in John's honor. We and global leaders
who are our mutual friends value John's passion for good
judgment.”
Dinner Chair J. Michael Evans, Vice Chairman of Goldman,
Sachs & Co., told a legendary anecdote about Whitehead
offering a ride to Henry Ford in his Chevy. Evans, 54, also
commented:
“I hope to have half the energy Whitehead has at his
age… My wife says that’s impossible because
I don’t have that much energy now.”
At
the dinner, Chair Maurice “Hank” Greenberg joined
Mr. Whitehead and Ronnie Chan (Chairman of Hang Lung Group
Ltd.) in sharing views on several of the most significant
issues facing our global economy today.
John
C. Whitehead earned his M.B.A. from Harvard, and soon after,
joined the prestigious investment bank Goldman, Sachs &
Co. Over a total of 38 years at the firm, he rose to become
Chairman and retired as Co-Chairman and Co-Senior Partner.
Appointed by President Reagan, Mr. Whitehead then served
as US Deputy Secretary of State.
